Peat-free gardeners
Je bent vaThink again: your garden will be peat-free! You've carefully chosen your potting soil or simply left it alone, not a speck of peat in sight. But wait a minute... are you sure the plants you're buying haven't been secretly grown in peat? Most nurseries still use peat-rich soil to grow their plants. So if you're not careful, you're still bringing a mountain of nature reserves and hidden CO₂ emissions into your garden.

And let's be honest: a tree or shrub that has learned to survive without peat from a young age will fit much better into your sustainable garden than one that is still secretly yearning for its old peat soil.
Fortunately, the number of peat-free growers is growing. Not an overwhelming number yet, but enough to give cause for hope. Want to know where to buy sustainable, peat-free plants? Below you'll find a list of peat-free growers.

Note! Not all growers listed below are 100% peat-free. Many growers use Bio-Kultura potting soil. This potting soil consists of 25% peat. While this is somewhat lower than most other potting soils on the market, it's certainly not peat-free.
